Ali's Front Room

This film provides a historical tale of Kingsland Road, and how a Cypriot migrant who arrived as a 14 year old in the early 1950s has become an East Ender. Ali tells a fascinating tale of the East End, and what it means to have grown up and lived in this part of London. Having lived and worked most of his life on and nearby Kingsland Road, Ali’s story blurs the boundaries between the domestic and the public and challenges what it means to feel at home and a sense of belonging to an area.
